Its 9 pm at the Alhamra Complex on 7th June and the place is all jam packed with hoards of young crowd eagerly awaiting the start of the ceremony for the launch of Worldcall Wireless Telephony Service. Excitement on the faces of the crowd is obvious as organizers hurriedly give final touches and gutsy wind blows across, paving way for a breezy summer night ceremony.
Lahore is a city known for its culture of entertainment thus the venue and the people provide a perfect setting for a launch of a service that would add new dimensions to communication systems in Pakistan.
Pakistanis have been witnessing a continuous change of communication patterns being introduced by many new and upcoming companies. Worldcall group added another feather to its cap by introducing a new service to its already long list of latest technology comunication services. The Worldcall Wireless service is a joint venture between Worldcall group and Samsung for easy access to making phone calls at an affordable rate along with the added advantage of choosing one's own desktop and hand set.
As the crowd become increasingly up roaring, the recitation of the Holy Quran starts which provides momentary calmness. The ceremony has started. All that follows is an experience of a time spent enjoying. The host Ayesha Sana disappointed none as she walked on the stage wearing a hot pink ensemble and capturing the audience's attention with her vivacious smile against the gushing windy backdrop.
Our very own Omar Sharief joined soon to give audience the laugh that is so expected of him. Next came the mime performed by NCA students on the concept of 'Evolution of Communication'. The girl clad in a red sari representing communication awareness developed interest among the male masses but very few actually understood the whole theme. We need a more educated crowd to get to that level. The music and lighting was enigmatic and performers acted out brilliantly.
Directors of Worldcall Shahbaz Taseer and Shehryar Taseer made the first Worldcall Wireless telephone call and hundreds of red balloons flown in the clear sky.
Envying such young duo making it big in this big bad world of business must be sinking many hearts but the lively atmosphere only encouraged others to wish them good luck in this endeavor and follow their footsteps. The beats of the Drums and the Dhols by Pappo Sayeen and Farhad Humayum of Overload brought vibrations of mix traditional and hip melodious rhythms into the air that carried everyone to dance along.
The lucky draw proved lucky to five of the audience who won Samsung phones along with free Worldcall Wireless connections.
For those who didn't win any prizes had much to look forward to in the form of Abrar ul Haq's performance. A mind blowing and feisty Abrar made the crowd clap and dance on his Punjabi beats and bhangra. Anyone who was a part of the festivity cannot ignore the fact that it was a night well enjoyed. It was obvious by the look on the faces of over 7,000 people and the Worldcall team who had made it possible and created the whole ambiance.
A job well done, a ceremony thoroughly enjoyed and a launch that has opened new avenues in the field of telecommunication. Nobody expects less from the Worldcall gorup and looks forwards to its custom of conducting business with customer focus.
