Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi has been adjudged among top 10 universities of the world in IEEE CSIDC competition in USA. Of nearly 200 teams from 109 universities that participated in the CSIDC 2005, the top ten projects were selected based on their reports by the judging panel, a SSUET release said Tuesday.
The top ten teams were invited to compete in the world finals in Washington from June 25 to 28. The SSUET team comprised of Suleman Mumtaz Khowaja, Aleem Khalid Alvi, Muhammad Yousuf Bin Azhar, Mehmood Usman and Ali Muzaffar Hyderabadwala.
The project developed by SSUET team named "Boltay Haath" has been designed to assist persons having speaking and hearing impairments. Such handicapped persons will be able to communicate with the computer using the system developed by SSUET.
The top ten varsities are American University of Sharjah UAE, Beijing University of Technology China, Iowa State University Ames Iowa USA, North Carolina State University Raleigh USA, Politechnica University Bucharest Romania, Poznan University of Technology Poland, Shanghai JiaoTong University China, Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology Karachi Pakistan, Sir Siva Subramaniya Nadar college of Engineering Chennai India and Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana Medellen Colombia.
