Astore river flooding causes immense damages

The floodwater of Astore river in the different parts of district Astore has damaged hundreds of houses, rendering thousands of homeless and closing down Shar-e-Astore for all kind of traffic. The hot weather has led to floods in parts of north-western of the country, where melting snow has caused rivers to overflow.
Talking to APP MNA Muzaffar Ralay from district Astore said that the local administration has made arrangements to shelter thousands of people displaced from areas flooded by the Astore river.
The floods had caused no loss of life due to timely evacuation of residents at risk along the Astore river, which has been in spate.
The flooding has caused soil erosion and washed away many shops and houses on Gilgit-Ghizer road, which remains closed for traffic, officials said.
Floodwater has submerged many villages in Astore district, playing havoc with standing crops in the areas of Pervishing Thing Paine, Mir Malik Godai Churat and Daras Farm.
According to officials the water-flow in River Astore at district Astore had reached 1,50,810 cusecs.
