Call to regularise 1,600 PWD workers

The Executive Committee of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), Population Welfare Department (PWD) Larkana, on Monday demanded the government to regularise the services of 1,600 employees, working on contract basis since 1998. The meeting also demanded reinstating the 16 sacked employees of Population Office Thatta, and stressed to scrape the decision to hand over the population welfare centres of the department to health department.
The meeting called for fixing 50 percent quota in recruitment for the sons and wards of retired and expired employees of the department. They also demanded to get back the projects of Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) and Women Village Workers (WVWs) from the health department so that those projects might wok effectively to lower the birth rate in the rural areas.
Sindh APCA (Population Planning) President Muhammad Peeral Dayo presided over the meeting.
