Rs 300 million T&VT project prepared for cabinet's approval

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has prepared a Rs 300 million "National Technical and Vocational Training" (T&VT) project for cabinet's approval, Federal Minister for Education Lieutenant General Javed Ashraf Qazi (Retd) said here on Tuesday. He was talking to journalists after inaugurating Sir Syed Gachrang School of Arts and Technical Education' which will train ladies in vocational skills through some short term courses in block printing, wall hangings and oil and glass painting, etc enabling them to establish their own business.
The Minister also awarded certificates to master trainers of vocational and technical centres organised by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Sir Syed Memorial Society.
The minister said that after approval from the cabinet the ministry would send the project to planning commission for implementation.
He said in that regard, technical board to establish, which comprised representatives of Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Education. It would establish technical training centres in every district.
He expected the technical training centres would be operational within 16 months and semi literate people (who can read and write) would get training in technical skills.
The minister hoped that improved skills through technical training would enhance human productivity, promote utilisation of local resources, reduce external dependence and build self-confidence among.
Technical courses for males include electrician course, three, and six and nine months engineering diplomas, poultry and carpentry courses, he added.
