Wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade were higher early on Wednesday on a rebound from declines over the previous two days, traders said. As of 10:40 am CDT (1540 GMT), CBOT July wheat was up 2-1/4 cents at $3.30 per bushel, with deferred months up 2 to down 3 cents.
O'Connor and Co was an early buyer of 400 September contracts, while Fimat Futures was also a featured buyer, traders said.
Futures jumped higher shortly after the opening bell, with July hitting a session high of $3.34.
"There was nothing for sale, and there was short covering. I think we hit small stops," one trader said of the early pop in prices.
