Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, talking to a delegation of international water supply company, Atlantis Waters said here on Thursday that huge funds were being utilised for the improvement of water supply and sewerage system. He said that an effective plan has been chalked out for the new water supply and sanitation system and water and sewer lines would be replaced throughout the province under a phased programme, he added.
The CM said that foreign investment in the projects of water supply and drainage in urban and rural areas of the province was fully being encouraged and the government will avail all opportunities of cooperation with international agencies for the provision of potable water to citizens.
He said a comprehensive programme has been initiated for rural water supply and drainage system in Rajanpur, Khanewal, Multan, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan and other districts of southern Punjab. He averred that new tube wells were being installed in different areas of the province besides underground pipes were being replaced. Chief Executive Atlantis Waters Irfan H. Khan gave a briefing on the occasion.
Member Provincial Assembly, Shaheena Asad and Vice President, PML Punjab, Mian Iftikhar were also present on this occasion.
