Cholera outbreak: government urged to declare emergency

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz (PML-N) Central Finance Secretary, Muhammad Pervaiz Malik MNA, has asked the government to announce emergency in Kasurpura, Marzipura and Bund Road areas, hard hit by cholera epidemic due to contaminated drinking water, to check mortality and diseases.
During his visit to the area, Malik said that Friday's heavy rain had further aggravated the situation and the misery of people have doubled due to inadequate facilities in the effected areas.
He advised the authorities to conduct a study to find the real causes of disease, which affected the community by drinking polluted water. Besides, he asked the authorities to check supply and sewerage system in the city and steps should be taken for separation of drinking water pipes from the sewerage lines.
