The oft-proclaimed good governance can at best be described as garrulous. The deteriorating law and order situation caused by rampant target killing, bomb blasts, rocket attacks on pylons, press, pipelines and CM's residence are the cold facts that give little credence to the writ of the government from Khyber to Kharadar.
Even worse, selfish profiteers continue to squeeze majority of the population and laugh at their agonies caused by price hike of essentials, while political gangs continue to damage the nation with their inimical politics.
Worst of all, those with Islamic labels disdainfully ignore all the heinous crimes being committed every other day in some parts of the country that are profane to Islam, like men with clout ordering gang rape of innocent poor women, Karokari, Sanwara, wedding of girls to Quran thus desecrating the holy book to the status of a husband, (a bigger crime than that committed at Guantanamo Bay by non-Muslim) because of their constant focus on Musharrafbashing, in disgraceful collaboration with tainted politicians as pointed out by a renowned Paris columnist in his many articles.
However, the saddest part is the delay or denial of justice to the victim in which the President and the Prime Minister have both failed so far despite their active indulgence.
The only hope now lies with the Apex Court to deliver justice to the poor but brave Mukhtatran Mai, the icon of the oppressed women in Pakistan and around the world (including Imraana of India), notwithstanding that the culprits would have been beheaded within forty days had this crime been committed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On the economic front, there is nothing to cheer about as the rupee continues to be ripped and Al-kanooz refuses to buy KESC even at 1/3rd the price of a Paan per share.
Lastly with regard to the offshore image, the less said the better in the light of refusals by Singapore and Wellington to host oversize PM's and President's entourage. Besides the bad publicity abroad caused by preventing M.Mai from travelling to the USA.
It is high time for the men cramming the corridors of power to avoid further embarrassment and accept the fact that she commands greater honour (though dishonoured in her own country) and status then General Yousuf (R).
Therefore, in view of the grim realities as above, I earnestly appeal to the President and the Prime Minister to perform official Umrahs in tandem with small contingent comprising of academicians and humanists like Sattar Edhi and only one official co-ordinator to seek blessing of God.
Alternatively, speak the truth however bitter and remain on Siraate-mustaqeem at zero cost of the public.
