Shujaat satisfied with law and order situation in Karachi

Pakistan Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain held meeting with Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan at Governor House here on Sunday night. Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Nasreen Jalil of MQM's Rabita Committee, PML Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Syed, Captain Haleem Siddiqi, Provincial Minister Nadir Akmal Leghari, former Naib Nazim Tariq Hassan, Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi and Aleem Adil Shaikh were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting various provincial matters particularly arrangements for local government elections, development projects and other issues of importance came under discussion.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain while nullifying the negative impression about law and order with reference to forthcoming local bodies, elections said he found the situation in Karachi peaceful and satisfactory.
"Conditions here are conducive and we are convinced that elections will be held transparently in a peaceful atmosphere".
He said those crying about probable law and order problem during elections would be disappointed.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan vehemently rebutted the impression being created by certain elements about lawlessness and confusion in Karachi and declared it was a totally baseless and negative propaganda.
The government was fully capable of holding local bodies, elections in a transparent, impartial manner and in a peaceful environment. No one should have any doubt about it, he added.
Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said there was complete cohesion among the government allies. He said no one would be allowed to disturb law and order and the government would deal with such elements strictly.
Governor Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan pointed out Karachi was an important city not only for Sindh Province but the entire country. People from all parts of the country live there and it was an emerging economic hub of the region, he said adding its development guarantees the development of entire country and welfare of people. He spotlighted the development works besides ongoing activities in the fields of sports, culture, trade and industry and said investors at home and abroad were showing practical interest in expanding their business here.
