Grand Opposition Alliance comprising MMA, ARD and other opposition parties would be formed within this month for the restoration of sovereignty of parliament, and exerting pressure on General Pervez Musharraf to quit one of the offices of COAS or President. Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General, Syed Munawar Hasan, disclosed this in a press conference here, on Monday.
"The people of Pakistan would listen good news regarding the formation of grand alliance of the opposition in July," he added.
Responding to a question, he said that launching of an agitation movement against the escalating price hike was also on the MMA's agenda.
"If the government creates hurdles in MMA's movement, it would prove counterproductive and the government would have to face tough time," he maintained.
About his meeting with Nawaz Sharif during his visit to Saudi Arabia, Munawar said Nawaz intended to return to homeland at any cost and the government would not be able to restrain him anymore.
Talking about local bodies' elections, he alleged that the government, with the announcement of local bodies elections schedule had started rigging, as it had amended laws to allow the sitting ministers/members provincial and national assemblies to contest the LB elections.
"Our contest is against the ruling party while except MQM, all the political parties, including Pakistan Muslim League have contacted MMA for seat-to-seat adjustment," the JI leader claimed.
MMA has decided to make seat-to-seat adjustment with the ARD and Tehreek-e-Insaf. The election campaign of MQM is based on frightening the voters so that they could not come out of their houses on the polling day.
He further said that PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain should have expelled the Governor Sindh on the charge of corruption.
He urged the rulers to force India to withdraw its forces from Indian occupied Kashmir, which is most densely militarised area in the world.
Pakistani rulers had damaged the Kashmir cause by taking frequent U-turn on Kashmir policy, he added. The 13th of July would be observed as Kashmir Day, he announced.
