A Chinese general targeted by Taiwan for recruitment as a spy has been jailed for 13 years for accepting bribes, a source with knowledge of the case said on Tuesday. People's Liberation Army (PLA) Major General Liu Guangzhi had been convicted recently by a military court of accepting bribes totalling several hundred thousand yuan (tens of thousand of dollars) from subordinates seeking promotions or transfers, said the source who requested anonymity.
No other details were available. A cabinet spokesman had no immediate comment.
