A meeting held here on Wednesday with Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, Jahangir Khan Tareen in chair to discuss in detail the efforts to promote the concept of 'one village one product' introduced by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
Suleman Ghani, Secretary to the Ministry, Mrs Munawar Humayun, Chairperson Rural Support Programme, Masood Malik CEO, SRSP, Mrs Shahnaz Kapadia, Peshawar and Ms Shandana Khan, CEO, RSPN, Islamabad attended.
Jahangir Tareen emphasised that the ministry should work together with RSPN to promote local craft in villages and small towns, according to a press release issued here.
RSPs are already engaged in social mobilisation ie organising willing community and support them in development activities.
Mrs Shahnaz Kapadia, Consultant SRSP, Peshawar gave a detailed presentation and said that the RSPN supported the 2 years empowerment through Enterprise Development, in Haripur, from August 2003 to August, 2004.
This was a cascade programme, where 12 Enterprise Activists were to adopt a total of 144 entrepreneurs over a period of two years.
The minister desired to have detailed briefing about the SRSP supported activities at Haripur with focus on 'One Village One Product' that the ministry is undertaking.
He hoped that the two will join hands to work towards a common objective.
