SCCI and Pepa agree to combat pollution

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) and Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pepa) on Saturday agreed to take steps for decreasing environmental pollution. The environmental protection agency also agreed to hold a seminar for creating awareness among industrialists of the industrial estates in Hayatabad in collaboration with the Sarhad Chamber.
The decisions were taken in a meeting between Pepa chairman Engr Shahnawaz Khan and SCCI president Niaz Ahmad here at Sarhad Chamber. Others who were present in the meeting were senior vice-president of SCCI Sharafat Ali Mubarak, president of Hayatabad Industrial Estates Nauman Wazir and officials of Pepa.
Niaz stressed need for joint efforts of industrialists and the government for ensuring clean environment in which the services of the private sector and concerned public sector institutions should also be sought. He proposed to hold a seminar for industrialists to control the problem of environmental pollution.
PEPA Chairman briefed the meeting about measures taken by the agency for control over environmental pollution in the province and stressed for initiating measures at the level of trade body.
