'13,000 Ulema to be trained in population planning'

Federal Population We1fare Minister Chaudhry Shahhaz Hussain has said the government has decided to impart training to 13,000 Ulema in population planning so that they could create awareness among masses. In this connection, a special programme for Ulema would also be launched which will be completed in three years, he said while talking to Voice of America (VoA).
The minister said that monthly stipend will be given to trained Ulema. He said the government has already initiated various programmes to check population growth.
Chaudhry Shahbaz described Pakistan's current population as 152 million which is increasing by 1.92 percent annually, and is a matter of concern.
He warned that if the current growth rate is not contained then Pakistan's population will cross the figure of 300 million in the next 37 years.
