Dyes importers seek incentives

13 Jul, 2005

Traders doing business in dyes have criticised the Federal budget 2005-06 and said the budget has not offered any incentives to dyes importers of Jodia Bazar. Dyes used in textiles for export purpose are direct dyes, reactive dyes, disperse dyes and vast dyes.
They said on Friday that there was no change in import policy in lieu of import duty and sales tax. The government has finished sales tax on only woolen dyes, leather dyes and acrylic dyes.
"The finance ministry is wrongly declaring that they have moved downward duties making it zero-rated, they said, adding, "the ministry is making contrary statement to the factual position." On the other hand, the ministry has levied 15 percent import duty and 15 percent sales tax for the above mentioned dyes. They also complained of non-co-operative attitude of the finance ministry.
