Anomaly committee set up

13 Jul, 2005

On the recommendation of business community, the government has constituted an anomaly committee to address the issues relating to fiscal measures announced in the 2005-06 budget. A CBR official told Business Recorder on Tuesday that the anomaly committee would be chaired by Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, Dr Salman Shah, and members would include CBR Chairman, Secretary, Commerce, and Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Production.
The committee will finalise its recommendations within one week on the basis of queries raised by the business community.
In certain cases, the CBR may recommend to the anomaly committee to maintain status quo as tax officials opined that most of the anomalies pointed out by private sector are in new budget proposals and not any ambiguity in the Finance Bill (2005-06).
