US arabica coffee futures edged higher after a choppy Tuesday session, buoyed by light scale-down roaster buying, traders said. The New York Board of Trade's most-active September arabica contract rose 0.35 cent to settle at $1.0490 a lb, after trading from $1.0430 to $1.0590.
Among other arabicas, December gained 0.40 cent to $1.0915, while longer-dated coffee futures climbed 0.20 to 0.65 cent.
Estimated trading volume in NYBOT arabica futures fetched a modest 8,471 contracts, below Monday's official tally of 9,690 lots.
