'Self-accountability must for social justice'

President Azad Jammu Kashmir, Major General Sardar Muhammad Anwar Khan (Retd) has underlined the need for the observance of merit in order to ensure justice. He was addressing a briefing in Supreme Court Chief Justice Chamber here. The Chief Justice of AJK Supreme Court Justice Kh Muhammad Saeed, Chief Justice of AJK High Court Justice Riaz Akhtar Chaudhry and others were present.
AJK President said that no society could live in peace without provision of justice and it was the duty of the concerned authorities and institutions to meet the grievances of the common people and provide justice on their doorsteps.
He said that for the establishment of social justice, culture of self-accountability would have to be initiated. The society lacked justice and the decision-making authorities must keep the standard of justice and courts, maintain non-discriminatory attitude to have peoples' faith in justice providing institutions.
On the occasion Chief Justice AJK Supreme Court Justice Kh Muhammad Saeed briefed the President about the reforms introduced recently. He said the central bench of AJK Supreme Court had conducted over five hundred cases last year and the decisions of 150 cases had been made so far. Similarly 305 cases were presented before the Mirpur bench, in which 150 cases were decided, while 18 cases were presented before Rawalakot and bench had made the decisions.
Chief Justice Supreme Court demanded for provision of computer and IT facilities. AJK President was also informed that an expenditure of Rs10.9 had been estimated for the extension of Supreme Court building. AJK President visited different parts of the building. He was informed that 11290 books were available in the Supreme Court library Muzaffarabad while 1710 books were available at Mirpur bench library.
