Ministry to hold training programme for Haj pilgrims

Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Vakil Ahmad Khan Thursday said that ministry would arrange extensive training programme for pilgrims during current Haj season. Speaking at a PTV programme, he said the Ministry had written letters to vice chancellors of all universities to spare their Islamic studies professors for the training of pilgrims. Luckily, he said all the chancellors had agreed to spare their professors for the noble cause.
Banks would also arrange special training programmes for pilgrims during current Haj season, he added.
The secretary said film prepared last year with the co-ordination of PTV had also been updated which would be showed in all Haj camps and added that all the tour operators had also been directed to arrange the film for training purpose of pilgrims.
To a question, he said about 150,000 intending pilgrims would perform Haj during current year under the Haj Policy-2006.
Out of 150,000 intending pilgrims, 90,000 would perform Haj under government scheme while 60,00O under the private scheme, he said.
