All Pakistan Loco Running Staff Union(APLRSU) has categorically stated that the drivers or firemen of the trains are not responsible for the catastrophic mishap of Ghotki. However, outdated scanning and signalling system and bureaucracy were responsible for this mishap.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq, Divisional President, Abdus Saeed Khan and Basharat (members) said that the locomotive of Karachi Express was equipped with sensitive and modern devices, "while it is impossible that the driver or the fireman napped during the duty hours." They said: "Signalling system is faulty on Rohri-Khanpur section but no one is ready to accept his responsibility to repair it."
They alleged that there is an acute shortage of drivers in railway and officers force them to perform duties for more time than the actual time.
Expressing their dissatisfaction over the inquiry of the Federal Government Railway Inspector, they describe it a mere wastage of time.
