20 Jul, 2005

NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman on Tuesday took serious notice of the line losses of Pesco and Tesco and frequent load shedding in FATA, particularly in Khyber Agency. He said that a joint meeting of stakeholders should be arranged within a fortnight to find solution of the problems.
Talking with a two-member delegation of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, comprising its President Niaz Ahmad and Nauman Wazir at the Governor House here on Tuesday, he stressed that concrete initiatives should be taken not only to ensure smooth functioning of the organisations but also to facilitate the people.
Besides Khyber Agency Political Agent Fida Muhammad Wazir, representatives of Pesco and Tesco were also present on this occasion.
He appreciated that line losses in the industrial estates of the settled areas of the province had been brought down, and added that there was dire need to provide level playing field for all industrial units elsewhere in the province, including FATA.
The Governor advised the concerned officials that a meeting of all concerned departments and industrial organisations should be arranged to come out with concrete proposals to tackle the problem on solid grounds.
