Indonesian share prices closed 0.32 percent higher Tuesday on a technical rebound led by market heavyweights Bank Mandiri and Telkom, dealers said. The Jakarta Stock Exchange composite index closed up 3.577 points at 1,132.017 on volume of 1.74 billion shares valued at 981.31 billion rupiah (100.34 million dollars).
"Trading was a bit mixed and mainly influenced by technical factors," said Bhakti Capital analyst Budi Ruseno.
He said gains in some markets in the region helped improve sentiment at home despite the overnight drop on Wall Street.
Advancers outnumbered decliners 69 to 46, while 79 stocks were unchanged.
The rupiah was at 9,822-9,827 to the dollar compared to Monday's 9,803-9,813.
Bank Mandiri rose 40 rupiah to 1,530 and rival Bank Rakyat Indonesia also gained 25 rupiah to 2,975.
Telkom was flat at 5,150 while long distance operator Indosat was up 50 at 5,350.
