US stocks fell slightly on Wednesday after Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan signalled more interest-rate rises and a mixed bag of earnings, but losses were capped by a drop of more than $1 in oil prices.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 33 points, or 0.31 percent, at 10,613.60. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 2.22 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,227.13. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was down 4.46 points, or 0.21 percent, at 2,168.72.
