At least 20 people were feared dead and 27 injured, one of them critically, when a passenger coach fell into ravine at Lahore-Islamabad Motorway, police officials said on Thursday. The coach was on its way to Lahore from Murree when on a sharp steep turn the driver lost control over the bus due to failure of breaks and it turned turtle near village Kallar Kahar.
Chakwal District Police Officer Chaudhry Mushtaq Hussain Bergatt and the staff of FWO and motorway police rushed to the spot.
The injured were immediately shifted to Fauji Foundation Hospital Kallar Kahar and District Hospital Chakwal, while seven seriously injured passengers were shifted to Rawalpindi hospital.
Emergency has been declared at District Headquarters Hospital Chakwal. Kallar Kahar police have registered a case.
