22 Jul, 2005

A member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association has approached the Lahore High Court on Thursday against crackdown on Madrassahs and mosques, and prayed to the court to direct the respondent high authorities to take action against responsible police officials.
The petitioner, M D Tahir also prayed to the court to restrain the respondents from conducting further raids on Madrassahs and mosques in future. He was of the view that the Madrassahs and mosques were sacred places for the Muslims, but on the behest of the foreign powers the respondent government was raiding such places.
He also contended that the respondent was hurting the sentiments of the Muslims by disgracing their religious and spiritual leaders. He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondent government to take action against those responsible authorities that had ordered the raids and added that they should be tried in terrorist courts.
