Gastroenteritis claims four more lives in Dera Ghazi Khan

Another four persons, including three women, Shamim Mai, Mrs Ata Muhammad and Mrs Asghar Sabzani and a minor child Dilshad (6) died of gastro-enteritis on Saturday night in a suburb of Dera Ghazi Khan. More than 300 residents of the area staged a demonstration on Sunday against the health department for not taking preventive measures and failing to launch a campaign for awareness when the gastro-enteritis spread in the entire southern Punjab.
At least 120 people were hit in Chak No 56-M (Jalalpur Pirwala) of them 15 are in precarious condition. Another two persons, Kulsoom Akhtar (15) of Mailsi and a labourer Shaikh Naseero (40) of Jehanian, died on Sunday night. Fifteen persons have died in six days in Multan division due to gastro-enteritis as the health authorities failed to combat this disease.
