ITCN Asia is growing from strength to strength, and this is a clear reflection of the dramatic growth that has been witnessed in the IT and telecom sector in Pakistan over the past few years.
The government's carefully crafted plan of first bringing in the proper legislation, then deregulating and finally privatising the industry has been successfully executed, by the grace of Allah, and the results are there for all to see.
The reduction in prices, and the increase in choices available to the end consumers, is nothing short of a revolution and I am confident that we will see further improvements in the months to come. IT is now used in literally all sectors of the economy, and the challenge ahead is to ensure that we are able to utilise IT to enhance the delivery of public services to the citizens as well as to raise productivity in our manufacturing and services sectors.
I wish the organisers of ITCN Asia 2005 all the very best in their endeavours to promote the IT and telecommunication industry in the country and am confident that this year the event will build upon the successes of the past.
