EOBI must ensure benefits to deserving: minister

"The purpose of Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) is to ensure benefits to the poor deserving workers of private and public sector. The contributions, which are collected from the employers and employees, is the trust money of the poor people".
This was stated by Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis in a dinner hosted by Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution Officers' Association of Pakistan in the honour of retired officers of the Institution and to welcome Brigadier Akhtar Zamin as new Chairman of EOBI.
According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, the minister said that Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution had to be restructured in a way that all the relevant and comprehensive information was available to the stakeholders without any delay or obstruction through automation and computerisation.
He said that no organisation could flourish, unless its employees were satisfied with their terms of employment. In order to resolve the issues of the officers of Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution, he constituted a high-level committee comprising of three Director Generals of the Institution and instructed to submit their recommendations within a month.
Earlier, Chairman Employees Old-Age Benefit Institution, Brigadier (Retd) Akhtar Zamin in his speech stated that he would leave no stone unturned to make the institution a viable, modern and progressive organisation of the country adding that he believed in teamwork and asked the officers to make the institution a pension friendly organisation.
"If the institution is flourished the employees will get better incentives but if targets/objectives are not achieved the employees will face adverse impact, incentives depend upon the performance," he remarked.
Later, the minister presented shields to retired and efficient officers of the institution.-PR
