US MIDDAY: corn drops on weather forecast

10 Aug, 2005

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade fell sharply early on Tuesday following a plunge in soy amid outlooks for wetter weather in key crop areas of the US Midwest, traders said. "The maps changed again this morning and now show some pretty good rains coming in, so they took both beans and corn down pretty hard," a pit source said.
At 10:01 am CDT (1501 GMT), CBOT corn was down 2-1/4 to 4-1/4 cents per bushel. September was down 4 at $2.18 per bushel. December was down 4-1/4 at $2.31-1/2.
