The Election Commission on Wednesday rescheduled the polling in Union Council 139 of Sargodha due to death of contestants for the seat of Nazim.
The Chief Election Commissioner said the returning officer union council 139 Sargodha, District Sargodha, in terms of Rule 17 (1) of the Punjab Local Government Elections Rules, 2005, has terminated the proceedings relating to the election to the seat of Nazim/Naib Nazim due to death of contesting candidate for the seat of the Nazim.
It notified the new schedule according to which the polling would be held on August 26 and result would be declared by the Returning Officer on August 27.
Nomination papers would be issued on August 11 by the Returning Officer and would be received on August 12 and 13.
The Election Commission has fixed the date of August 15 for publication of notice of all the nomination and August 16 for filing of objections. Scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on august 17, publication of names of validly nominated, and appeals against acceptance/rejection would be filed on August 18.
Disposal of appeals will be on August 19 and withdrawal of candidature on August 20 whereas the list of the contesting candidates would be published on August.
The CEC asked that the candidates who had earlier filed nomination papers for the seat of Nazim/Naib Nazim for the above said Union Council needed not to file fresh nomination papers
However, the other persons desiring to contest election, will have to file their nomination papers along with candidature fee in accordance with the law.
