Habib Bank launches visa debit card

The Habib Bank Limited (HBL) launched its value visa debit card in the presence of media and other invited guests at its head office on Thursday. R. Zakir Mahmood, president and CEO of the bank, claimed the launching of the latest debit card was another of many achievements by the bank. He expressed the bank had a vision to be leading bank in Pakistan and abroad.
"We have always taken pride in providing our customers with premium products and services, while offering superior value to our customers," he beamed with joy.
He recalled the pioneering role of the HBL in the country and its services to masses. He informed the audience that the new value visa debit card would help customers enormously. Utility bills could be paid through it, which will be a safe mode of transaction too.
Mahmood said holder of this card would have more than 20 million outlets and 800,000 ATMs around the world. According to him currently 400,000 cardholders were in Pakistan and the bank had the target of 600,000 cardholders for the next year.
Family members of cardholders can also use convenience of the card through the Habib Bank Value Supplementary Value Card.
James Murray, executive vice-president, South and South East Asia Visa International, highlighted the importance of the visa card. He claimed the card would have a huge impact on socio-economic life of Pakistan.
He said he had come to Pakistan after a lapse of 15 years and had noticed that the country had taken long strides in progress and prosperity.
Others who graced the occasion were Santanu Mukherji, country manager, South Asia, Visa International, Jamil A Khan, SEVP& GE, Retail Banking group, HBL and Ms Zubina Sadick, SVP& Head, Consumer Products & Marketing Division, HBL.
