Pakistan Television Corporation on the eve of Independence Day celebration will hold national song competition at all centers, and the best performer will be picked for telecast awarded bumper prize. The PTV in connection with the Independence Day celebrations has also arranged a high profile thematic show to be telecast on August 13 and 14.
PTV Managing Director, Raja Arshad Khan told APP here on Friday that the show would be the climax of the 'Salam Pakistan' programmes being telecast through the current month celebrating freedom and patriotism, leading up to the Independence Day.
This year, the theme of the special show revolves round the values and sentiments embedded in Muslim Sufi poetry, which helped spread Islam through peaceful and harmonious co-existence and mutual tolerance.
He said PTV had launched Salam Pakistan on all its three channels since August 1, and the festivities on these channels had been planned with the objective to inculcate a spirit of pride, hope and confidence among the masses, as individual Pakistanis and as a nation.
Various programmes aim to rebuild the bonds of unity among all Pakistanis and motivate them to take their country to new heights of progress, prosperity and success, he added.
Special programmes, short duration screen activities and celebrity testimonials are also being telecast in connection with the Independence Day celebrations.
Raja Arshad Khan said the PTV has also arranged to award Salam Pakistan prizes to three leading youngsters for outstanding achievements in the field of science and technology.
The PTV has always played a positive and effective role as the nation's representative medium, he observed.
He said while the PTV has given its best on every occasion of national import, but since the independence celebrations under Salam Pakistan in 2004, the station has telecast special transmissions like Marhaba Ramazan, Nazr-e-Quaid (December 25), Ehd-e-Wafa, special new year programmes, Watan Kahani (March 23), Hai Koi Hum Jaisa, and Pak Sarzameen, a special telethon produced on the occasion of the Environment Day.
