US authorities have detained a Pakistani suspected of involvement in a possible plot to attack the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles and other targets, officials said on Wednesday. The authorities are investigating three people detained in recent days, a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) spokesman, Laura Eimiller, told AFP.
A Pakistani, Hammad Riaz Samana, 21, was detained on August 2 in Los Angeles, according to the prisons service which is holding the suspect at a federal detention centre.
Samana is being detained as part of an investigation into a possible terrorist cell based in California, a source told AFP on condition of anonymity.
