Security forces have arrested a senior Taleban official, the interior minister said on Thursday. Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao identified the man as Ustad Muhammad Yasir who last year was appointed the Taleban's chief spokesman. "He is being questioned," Sherpao told Reuters, adding he was arrested a few days ago in Mardan.
Sherpao said security agencies were also questioning a Pakistani Imam and his son who were deported this week from the United States after being arrested for immigration violations during an anti-terrorism investigation in California.
