Sindh governor greets people on peaceful conduct of local bodies' polls

Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad congratulated the people on peaceful conduct of first phase of local bodies election. In this regard, he appreciated law enforcement agencies, candidates and the people for their collective efforts and playing their role in a better way.
He pointed out that overall situation remained satisfactory prior to the elections as well as during the polling in the province. With these elections, he said, the system of devolving powers to grass roots level introduced by President Pervez Musharraf will get strength and continuity. This system is a silent revolution whose affects are reaching the people directly, he added.
He said the zeal, and enthusiasm shown by people for participation in the elections, has demonstrated their complete faith in this system given by President Pervez Musharraf. The governor expressed the hope that all the factions taking part in the elections, will for get the past differences and work jointly for the development and welfare of this city, the province, the country and the people.
He particularly appreciated the day and night efforts of the law enforcement agencies and said that despite limited resources these institutions, during the last 3 years, have been demonstrating their professional capabilities and came up to the trust of people.
The governor hoped that all the candidates and their supporters, will accept the results of these elections with an open heart. "We can traverse the path of development only by promoting civilised traditions, understanding and enlightenment and thus have a recognition for our respectful and significant position in the comity of nations," he emphasised.
