An integrated plan has been inked to extend cellular telephone facilities by the state-run Special Communications Organisation (SCO) to the population of remaining parts of Azad Jammu Kashmir under a phased programme, official sources said.
The sources told APP here on Thursday that all is set to launch 50,000 more SCO cellular telephone connections across Azad Jammu Kashmir in the near future.
They said that the new SCOM mobile telephone system is being presentably passed though the initial testing and it will be inaugurated in the near future soon after completion of the testing process. They said that it will benefit the people of more areas of Azad Jammu Kashmir and more needy will be able to enjoy the cellular telephone facility in the area.
The sources disclosed that the number of the SCOM mobile telephone connections has been exceptionally increased. He said that procedure of obtaining the SCOM mobile telephone connection has been made easier besides reducing its cost and expenditures to greater extent, he added. He said that the new SCOM mobile phones extension plan would also benefit maximum population of Mirpur district.
The sources further said that since the BTS towers have been installed in Mangla, Islamgarh, Chakswari, Jatlan and Dadayal in Mirpur district as well as in Bhimbher, Nikayal, Khuiratta and Kotli Azad Kashmir. He added that initial testing in these areas has been exercised, the population of the aforesaid areas as well as the adjoining areas will be benefited of the SCOM mobile telephone facilities in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Director General SCO Major General Waheed Akhter Malik has made the testing of the SCOM mobile telephone service at Jatlan and Mangla Hamlet in Mirpur district. He also visited the under-construction SCO Digital Telephone Exchange at Pindi Saberwal town in outskirts of Mirpur. Pindi Saberwal digital telephone exchange of 2,016-line to be inaugurated soon and it will provide the latest telephone facilities to the population of Pindi Saberwal, Afzalpur, Chaichaina and other adjoining areas.
A new digital telephone exchange in Karkra town is also being constructed in the future. Preliminary survey is under process to select suitable site for installation of the telephone exchange in the town.
