Pitac to be made self-generating institution

19 Aug, 2005

A strategy has been chalked out to upgrade the capacity of Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Center (Pitac) in terms of technology and human resources. The enhanced capacity will help Pitac to become a self-generating institution by providing services to the engineering sector, apart from carrying out training of youth in different trades.
"Efforts are being made to enable the Pitac to make fullest use of the available facilities in addition to upgrading it technologically," said Pitac governing body Chairman, Almas Hyder while chairing a meeting in Lahore.
The meeting was attended among others by the member Governing Body, Wasim Khalid, General Manager Pitch, Colonel Syed Anwar Ali Pervez (Retd) and senior officials of the organisation.
Almas Hyder said that the Pitch should strengthen its marketing capabilities so that it could achieve the production and revenue targets set for the year 2005-06. He said that the achievement of these targets would be monitored on monthly basis.
Referring to the steps being taken for re-invigoration of Pitch, he said that the governing body had already approved amendments in the rules of business of the center as a part of efforts to make this institution more responsive to the present day needs of Pakistan's industry.
He hoped that the amendments in the rules of business, which were formulated in 1962, would go a long way in transforming the Pitch into a dynamic facility.
The meeting also discussed the ways to improve the working of different shops at Pitch, especially Machine and Tools Shop, NC Shop, Heat Treatment Shop, Design Shop and Welding Shop. Earlier, Pitch GM, Colonel Syed Anwar Ali Pervez (Retd), apprised the participants of the meeting about various steps being taken to streamline the working of the center.
