The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Major General (Retd) Sardar Mohammed Anwar Khan on Friday administered oath to Noreen Arif as Minister for Agriculture and Livestock AJK. The oath taking ceremony was held in the Presidential block of the Kashmir House.
Talking to journalists after her oath taking ceremony, the new minister vowed to develop agriculture, which is the backbone of the AJK's economy.
At least 90percent of the population of Azad Kashmir living in rural areas earn their livelihood from agriculture and livestock.
Noreen Arif vowed to get help from Ph.Ds and other field specialists who had better knowledge of the field for agro development in AJK. She said that all the appointments would be made in her ministry purely on the basis of merit alone.
To a question the newly appointed minister said that although she had no new formula but she would utilise the present resources to gain excellent results and vowed to work sincerely for resolution of problems of the people.
She said that she would try her best to give all the necessary information and guidance to farmers in order to improve new trends regarding agriculture and livestock.
