Sindh Employees' Social Security Institution (Sessi) collected Rs 67.531 million as Social Security contribution from 17,484 registered establishments employing 0.311 million workers during July, 2005. This was stated in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sessi Commissioner Asif Marghoob Siddiqui.
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, reviewing the working of the Institution, the Commissioner observed that the month's collection was more than the target, and appreciated the efforts made for this purpose.
He advised the staff to keep up this efforts as Sindh Labour Minister and Chairman of Sessi Governing Body, Muhammad Adil Siddiqui, had been emphasising on increasing the number of secured workers in the province, so that more persons could avail the benefits of the scheme.
He congratulated Director, Korangi Directorate, Ziaur Rehman Khan Naghar for his extraordinary performance for highest collection of Social Security contribution Rs 129.633 million against the target of Rs 124.420 million and Education Cess during 2004-05. The Minister has awarded a Gold Medal in recognition of his services to Sessi.
The Commissioner was informed that Sessi had disbursed Rs 1.838 million as Cash Benefits to secured workers and their dependants during July last.
This disbursement included Rs 0.587 million paid as Sickness Benefits, followed by Rs 0.757 million as Disablement Pension/Gratuity, Rs 0.356 million as Injury Benefits, Rs 0.06 million as Survivors'
Pension, Rs 0.046 million as Maternity Benfits and Rs 0.032 million as Death Grant and Iddat Benefit.
Regarding medical services Commissioner was informed that during last month, attendance of outdoor patients at Sessi's medical outlets was 0.129 million, and 7,997 cases were referred to specialists for consultation.
During the month under review 259 major operations were performed in Sessi hospitals.-PR
