Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said the electricity would be supplied to all villages of the province by December 2007. The scheme of 20 per cent rebate on power tariff on agri tube wells was being successfully implemented, he added. He was talking to Wapda Chairman Tariq Hameed at Chief Minister House here on Wednesday.
The CM said power supply to villages was greatly helping in the social development as electricity was greatly helping social development. He said provision of electricity would raise the standard of living in backward areas.
He pointed 20 per cent rebate in power tariff to cultivators had resulted in the availability of additional water to farmers besides leaving positive impact on provincial economy.
He said government had provided an amount of Rs 450 million to Wapda for provision of free electricity meters to farmers and the facility would benefit the growers to the tune of Rs 20,000 to 90,000 annually.
Wapda Chairman Tariq Hamid said all arrangements have been completed for electricity to such villages that were still deprived of the facility. He said the scheme of 20 per cent rebate on power tariff on agri tube wells was being implemented in effective manner.
