New SME Policy, which was likely to be finalised by September, would not only help promote small and medium businesses but would also curtail the rate of unemployment in the country. Rehmatullah Javed, member Federal Task Force Convenor LCCI Standing Committee on SMEs, expressed these views while presenting final draft of upcoming SME Policy to LCCI President Mian Misbahur Rehman on Wednesday.
Rehmatullah informed the LCCI President that for the first time in the history of the country a special emphasis has been given towards the SMEs and the policy would provide much-needed roadmap to the small and medium enterprises. "The policy document has clearly defined the parameters of financial assistance to the SMEs with greater simplification along with guaranteed assistance to cater to the needs of this sector, which was in shambles for the last many years," he added.
According to him, if the measures suggested in the upcoming SME policy were properly adhered to, the SMEs were bound to play their due role by generating more employment opportunities. A true data base of small and medium entrepreneurs essential to assess the real needs of this so that it could be facilitated according to its requirement.
Speaking on the occasion, Mian Misbahur Rehman complimented Federal Industries Minster Jehangir Khan Tareen for preparing the SME Policy with the co-operation of the Ministry of Industries, Smeda and Federal Task Force on SMEs.
