Wheat futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were lower at midmorning on Thursday on technical selling by commodity funds, traders said.
Strong weekly US export data failed to lift the mood, traders said.
As of 11:25 am CDT (1625 GMT), CBOT September wheat was down 1-1/2 cents at $3.12-1/2 per bushel, with deferred months down 1 to 2 cents.
Refco Inc was the featured seller of 600 December contracts, traders said.
The US Department of Agriculture reported export sales of US wheat last week at 853,500 tonnes, near the high end of a range of estimates for 650,000 to 900,000 tonnes. The total included 250,000 tonnes to Iraq.
