Raw sugar futures faltered in volatile trade on Thursday, after barely extending the previous day's strong rally, amid a lack of conviction by the trade and independents on the floor.
Benchmark October sugar at the New York Board of Trade settled off 0.10 cent at 9.73 cents a lb. It reached a 10-day high at 9.89 after the open, 0.02 cent above Wednesday's peak.
With funds failing to follow through, the trade turned seller, pushing it down to 9.61 before the market steadied.
