US MIDDAY: coffee futures down by speculative, fund selling

US benchmark arabica coffee futures fell 3 percent to a new nine-month low Thursday, knocked down by speculative and fund selling amid bearish technical signals, traders said.
At the New York Board of Trade, the bellwether December arabica contract fell 3.0 cents to settle at 97 cents a lb. The bottom trade of 96.50 cents was the lowest price since November 17, 2004.
