Power failure hits city areas

30 Aug, 2005

Major city areas remained deprived of electric supply early Monday morning for about an hour, when KESC's transmission line tripped near Korangi Creek. Situation in Old City area was boiling as Old Town Grid and Elandar Road Grid stations were shut down for emergency work.
According to a spokesman of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, a five hour-long power breakdown from 2 am to 6:30 am at Pipri and Dumloti pumping stations also caused water shortage in Karachi.
KESC spokesman said that EHT tripping near Korangi creek lasted only 45 minutes, which caused power outage to southern Karachi including DHA, Clifton and adjoining localities.
