The tender for import of 75,000 tons urea by Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) will be opened at the Corporation's head office in FTC Building on Tuesday. Sources in TCP said on Monday that the Corporation had already purchased 110,000 tons urea for the Rabi crop.
Meanwhile, the tender for 50,000 tons sugar by TCP will be opened on September 6. The TCP also awarded a contract for 25000 tons sugar to World-wide Resources of USA last week. The original tender was floated for 50,000 tons sugar but later the quantity was reduced to 25,000 tons. About eight international companies participated in the tender.
TCP sources said that the tendered quantity of sugar was curtailed with a view to invite offers for a full lot of 50,000 tons. They said that apart from receiving bids from the traditional bidders, companies from China and Brazil were expected to participate in the tender.
