31 Aug, 2005

Industrialists from the Lahore Township Industries Association (LTIA) have rejected the taxes imposed by the Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIE) and Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Board.
According to a spokesman of the Association, an emergent meeting of the industrialists from Township Industrial Estate was held on Tuesday with its chairman Nasrullah Mughal in the chair. As many as 200 industrialists of the area attended the meeting, the spokesman added.
The meeting dubbed the setting up of PIE and Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Board as a big step of the Punjab government for promotion of industrial activities. However, it expressed its dissatisfaction over present leadership of both the institutions. The meeting maintained the government has released Rs 220 million to the Board, but no development work was done. The participants of the meeting urged the Chief Minister to change the present leadership of these two institutions and make the Board more effective and active.
