Soil scientists to provide assistance in preparing cricket pitches

Soil scientists from the university of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will provide technical assistance to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the preparation of cricket pitches in Pakistan.
According to a press release issued by the UAF here Wednesday, the Governor Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) had directed the PCB and UAF to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in this connection immediately.
This MOU will cover all areas relating to the preparation of cricket pitches on international standard.
Earlier, a delegation of soil scientists met the Governor and apprised him about the expertise of Pakistani soil scientist.
Professor Dr Abdul Ghafoor, Director Research UAF offered professional assistance to board for the development of cricket pitches in Pakistan keeping view the soil structure, soil texture, environment and other exigent properties of soil and environment.
Vice Chancellor UAF Professor Dr Bashir Ahmed also chaired the technical session at Gaddafi Stadium Lhaore.
Agha Zahid, Curator PCB, Naveed Iqbal MD Development PCB and other experts attended the technical briefing.
Chairman PCB Shehr Yar Khan joined the soil scientists and appreciated the technical guidance provided by the soil experts. He said that a MOU between UAF and PCB would be signed within next couple of days.
