01 Sep, 2005

Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD), in their meetings scheduled for September 3 & 4, 2005 must announce tendering enbloc resignations from assemblies as per decision taken in the all parties conference (APC) held on August 11, 2005.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan - JUP (Nifaz-e-Shariat) President Engr Muhammad Saleem Ullah Khan stated this while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.
He said the MMA should quit NWFP and Balochistan governments. As a result of Supreme Court's decision against the certificates of religious institutions, the Musharraf government could expel them any time from the assemblies, he added.
JUP fully supports the ARD and MMA point of views about the results of local bodies' elections, General Musharraf's dictatorship, restoration of 1973 constitution, setting up of caretaker government comprising representatives of all political parties, constitution of an independent election commission and holding of fresh general elections in the country, he added.
Every party belonging to opposition must take oath that it would not join dialogue process till General Musharraf quits, he maintained.
He demanded resignation of Interior Minister, and National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Ameer Hussain on account of negligence in Sonia Naz case. A case must be registered against the Superintendent Police and SHO to punish them under the law, he said.
